Critical Care Area

The Critical Care Units are designed for the care of adult medicine and surgical patients with life threatening disorders or illness.

ICU

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at JPS is a 30 bed unit designed and equipped to manage medical, surgical, and trauma patients who present life threatening or potentially life threatening disorders. Support available to patients consists of continuous observation and physiologic monitoring, ventilator support, swans ganz management and potent medication infusions. A multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nursing, dieticians and others, provide care collaboratively and effectively. This shared decision making allows for career growth.

Progressive Care

Progressive Care consists of four 16-20 bed units. The units are designed to care for patients with disorders similar to those cared for in ICU but the degree of severity allows for less intense concentration of technology and nursing personnel. The units handle long-term ventilators and stable selective vasoactive drips. Nursing support available to the patient consists of frequent observation and continuous cardiac monitoring by telemetry.
