Friends of the Medical Library

POSITION SUMMARY:
Friends of the Medical Library are library support volunteers who provide professional and compassionate service to all library patrons while helping with general library assignments and/or special library projects and programs.

GENERAL DUTIES FOR POSITION:

  • Greet employees, patients, and their families
  • Help library visitors with any questions
  • Collect and sort returned library materials
  • Maintain clean computer stations and bookshelves
  • Provide clerical support such as filing, answering phones
  • Perform self-reading

REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Mature, positive and service-oriented
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Able to pay attention to detail
  • Must be compassionate and patient with others
  • Verbal expression required to communicate with patients, patrons and staff
  • Ability to solve problems

HEALTH AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Able to stand or sit for at least two continuous hours
  • Able to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Manual dexterity (typing, writing, handling objects, etc.)
  • Lift up to 10 lbs. (items such as boxes, books, crates, stocking items, etc.)
  • Able to push or pull cart to transport various supplies
