Behavioral Medicine Fellowship
The primary focus of our fellowship is preparing fellows for work in medical education. Fellows will be prepared for work in a variety of healthcare settings through supervised clinical work, opportunities for consulting/program development, and research/scholarly activities. Fellows will develop expertise in primary care psychology provision, medical consultation, program design/development, and physician health and wellness. This fellowship will consist of several components – clinical work, program development, and scholarly activity. Activities will aim to prepare fellows for psychology licensure in Texas.
Clinical Work: (Approximately 40%)
The fellow will provide clinical psychology services within the clinics of the department of Family Medicine. Most services will be provided within a primary care psychology framework, and will focus on anxiety and depression in primary care and health and behavior change interventions in primary care. Additional opportunities exist for care of refugee patients. The fellow will work alongside family medicine residents and will be an integral part of residents’ education regarding mental health in primary care.

The fellow will assist with the development and implementation of a hospital-wide physician wellness program. In collaboration with the fellowship director and hospital administration, the fellow will work to implement a program addressing physician wellness for a large county hospital.
