Learn the Signs of Stroke

It’s important to know what a stroke might look like, because successful treatment depends on time. If you notice any of the following signs in yourself of someone else, don’t wait to see if they’ll get better on their own. Call 911 to get medical help as fast as possible.

 

Remember: BE FAST

 

BE FAST (Balance Eyes Face Arm Speech Time)B — Balance. Is the person leaning or falling to one side?

E — Eyes.  Is the person suddenly having trouble with eyesight?

F — Face. Does the person’s face appear uneven, seeming to droop on one side?

A — Arm. Is one arm weak or appear to drift down?

S — Speech. Is the person’s speech different than usual or hard to understand?

T — Time. If any of these symptoms are present, it’s time to call 911.

 

If you or someone you know experiences any of these symptoms, call 911 to get to a hospital immediately.
