Blood drive No. 5

September 19th, 2017

Sept. 19, 2017 — JPS team members stepped up to help meet the need for blood, exacerbated by Hurricane Harvey in August, donating 40 units at Friday’s blood drive.

“Those units have since been separated into red cells, plasma and platelets that will touch up to 120 patients,” said Carter BloodCare’s Judy Smith. Carter provides blood to JPS and other area hospitals, and “we continue to support our neighbors to the south, who are still digging out from Hurricane Harvey.” The storm severely disrupted blood donation in and around Houston.

“It is only through the support of our loyal friends, such as the good people at JPS, that we are able to replace what we use today so it will continue to be available for those of us in need tomorrow,” said Smith.
