Care Connections needs you
January 4th, 2017
The JPS Care Connections team is recruiting volunteers to join them on Homeless Count Night, January 26, to assist in the annual census of the homeless population.
Officially known as the point-in-time homeless count, or “PIT count,” the annual census takes place on the last Thursday in January, from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. PIT counts are conducted across the country and serve as the official population estimates used by government and social services agencies concerned with homeless issues.
In Tarrant County, the PIT count is conducted by the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition, with assistance from partner organizations and individuals in the community. The JPS Care Connections team hopes to put together multiple teams of JPS team members to assist.
Care Connections provides healthcare on the streets of Fort Worth and provides a bridge between homeless individuals and JPS, connecting them with preventative care and reducing inappropriate use of the emergency room.
