JPS Health Network is offering free continuing education to help nurses in the community fulfill the Texas Board of Nursing’s new requirement for continuing education in nursing jurisprudence and ethics.

Nurses are invited to a Behavioral Health hiring fair and special continuing education event on Saturday, December 3. Doors will open at 10 a.m., with a one-hour educational program starting at 11 a.m. Psychiatry’s Lisa Rowett, MSN, RN-BC, will present “Jurisprudence in RN Practice: Professional Roles in Behavioral Health, Part 1,” which can be applied toward the state’s jurisprudence and ethics requirement for all nurses seeking license renewal.

As of Jan. 1, 2014, the state’s continuing education requirement includes two contact hours in jurisprudence and ethics, which must be completed before the end of every third licensing cycle. (www.bon.texas.gov/NJE_Calculator.asp)
