June 25th Dental Screenings

6/23/2008

On Wednesday, June 25, children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth will receive free dental screenings from JPS Health Network as part of the Healthy Smiles program. The event will take place at the Butler branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs, in the Butler Place Public Housing community.

The screening at the Butler Club is part of a week-long visit by Bill Devine, DDS, and his staff from JPS, to all Fort Worth Boys & Girls Clubs locations. He will make another round of visits to the Boys & Girls Clubs in Arlington in August.

"The mission of our program is to reduce disparities in oral health care for underserved children in the Tarrant County area," said Devine. "We not only reach out to youth during the school-year but also during the summer."

The Healthy Smiles program is just one of the many ways JPS helps prevent dental disease among children in Tarrant County. Each year, JPS provides free dental screenings to more than 11,000 children in local school districts and 5,000 of those children received free dental sealants in 2007.
