Colin Werenka, MPA, Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer
Colin Werenka joined JPS Health Network as Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer in August 2020. He received his BA from The Ohio State University and also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Walden University. Prior to joining JPS, Colin was the first Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer at Dayton Children’s Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. During his tenure, he designed, scaled, and implemented the organization’s Corporate Compliance Program. Colin’s well-rounded corporate compliance skill set also includes time at CareSource, Ohio’s largest Medicaid Managed Care Plan, as well as 8 years as a federal regulatory inspector.
Since joining the JPS team, Colin has lead a sustained effort to deploy a risk tailored resource allocation model of compliance. The modernization of our Compliance Program has been a critical initiative which aims to harmonize effectiveness principles of the Office of the Inspector General of the US Department of Health and Human Services and the United States Department of Justice, Criminal Division with the JPS mission, vision, values, Rules of the Road™, polices, and procedures. Implementation the new program will greatly enhance our approach to detecting and preventing fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct.
As the leader of the Governance Division of JPS, Colin reports to the CEO and the Board of Managers, while overseeing both the Corporate Compliance and Internal Audit Departments. He is a fierce advocate of independent oversight at JPS, viewing it as a key driver of proper organizational conduct.
