Research Interests
My research aims to improve outcomes and reduce health disparities related to substance use, particularly for high-risk populations such as people with hepatitis C virus or HIV infections. Given the relation between substance use and morbidity or mortality in these high-risk populations, I am interested in developing interventions for primary, secondary, or tertiary prevention of substance abuse.
Importance to Patient Care
The evidence from my research can be used to inform physician and patient decision-making about prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis to improve health outcomes.
