Richard “Rick” Miller, MD, FACS, Chief Medical Officer, Chair of the Department of Surgery, and Chief of Surgery
Dr. Richard “Rick” Miller joined JPS as the Chair of the Department of Surgery, Chief of Surgery, and a Trauma and General Surgeon in 2020. In January of 2021, he was named Chief Medical Officer of JPS Health Network.
Dr. Miller has more than 30 years of experience in trauma and acute care surgery. The last 18 years spent at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee where he served as the Chief, Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Emergency General Surgery. Dr. Miller completed his general surgery residency at the combined Easton Hospital/Hahnemann University program in Easton and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then went on to complete his trauma/critical care fellowship at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
Dr. Miller sits on the Board of Directors and is the Treasurer for the Western Trauma Association. He is a member of the Committee on Trauma and an Abstract Reviewer for the American College of Surgeons. He has over 75 peer-reviewed publications and has written 14 book chapters.
