Doximity: JPS Family Medicine Residency Ranks Fifth in U.S.

JPS Health Network

The JPS Family Medicine residency program ranks fifth in the nation among programs of its kind, according to the recently released 2018-19 Doximity Residency Navigator.

A total of 75 residents participate in the JPS Family Medicine program, which makes it the largest hospital-based Family Medicine residency in the United States. According to the report, 100 percent of the participants who completed the JPS Family Medicine residency over the past year passed their board exams.

"Choosing a residency program is a pivotal decision in the careers of young physicians,” Dr. Nate Gross, co-founder of Doximity, explained about the purpose for the online residency ranking system. “We try to alleviate some stress by making it simple to compare programs while also providing real reviews from past residents, so physicians can find the training environments best-suited for their individual career paths.”

California-based Doximity is an online networking site for doctors that claims more than 70 percent of all licensed physicians in the United States as members. According to the organization, the Residency Navigator was completed to create transparency for aspiring physicians in the process of locating the right residency program for them.

Residency Navigator shares insights from the largest survey of its kind, with more than 72,500 verified U.S. physician respondents who have contributed nominations, ratings, and hand-written reviews. More than 90 percent of graduating fourth-year medical students are active users of Doximity. Within Residency Navigator, medical students can search through residency programs across categories such as specialty, geography, hospital type, research output or board pass rates.

JPS has consistently ranked in the top 10 of the Doximity Residency Navigator rankings over the past few years. Last year it scored seventh among more than 4,000 residency programs across 28 specialties.
