JPS Health Network Breaks Ground on New Hospital, Marking a Defining Moment for Healthcare in Tarrant County

Press Release

April 16, 2026 | Fort Worth, Texas — In a moment that will shape the future of healthcare in Tarrant County for generations, JPS Health Network today broke ground on its new hospital, a transformative investment that expands access, strengthens care delivery, and responds to the rapid growth of the community it serves.

Community leaders, partners, caregivers, and team members gathered on the JPS main campus in Fort Worth to mark the beginning of construction on the centerpiece of the JPS Master Facility Plan, a coordinated, multi-phase effort to modernize care environments, expand access, and create a more connected system of care across the region.

The new hospital will significantly expand capacity and bring advanced clinical technology into modern, integrated spaces designed to support safe, efficient, and coordinated care. As the cornerstone of a reimagined campus, it will strengthen how care is delivered across services, improve access for patients, and create an environment that supports both healing and innovation.

“For generations, this community has stood alongside JPS,” said Dr. Karen Duncan, President and CEO of JPS Health Network. “During moments of crisis, in moments when hope was needed and in moments of joy such as today. Today we take a bold step forward to ensure that we leave a meaningful and impactful legacy for generations to come.”

The project includes construction of a new inpatient hospital and expansion of the existing Pavilion, replacing aging infrastructure with modern, flexible environments that meet today’s standards and support the evolving needs of patients and care teams. Together, these investments will create a more connected, efficient campus designed to deliver complex care and improve outcomes.

This milestone builds on a series of major investments already underway across JPS Health Network. In the past year alone, JPS has opened Medical Home Southwest Tarrant and the county’s only Psychiatric Emergency Center, expanding access to both primary and behavioral health services. The recently completed Main Street Parking Garage is improving access to campus and will also support the new Health Center for Women, opening later this year.

Additional projects, including a new Medical Outpatient Building and Central Utility Plant, will further expand access, strengthen infrastructure, and support the long-term growth of the health network.

Together, these investments represent a comprehensive effort to transform how and where care is delivered, ensuring patients have access to modern, coordinated services across the continuum of care.

As Fort Worth and the surrounding communities continue to grow, this work positions JPS to meet rising demand, support its role as a leading teaching institution, and deliver high-quality care for generations to come.
