JPS Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship is a two-year program that will train individuals in specializing and developing a strong foundation in the understanding of child development and management in our pediatric population with various psychiatric illnesses or diagnoses in a community health system setting. Our commitment is to serve as many children and adolescents/families in our community that have mental health needs or are in need of guidance/resources.

UNIQUE ASPECTS OF THE PROGRAM

Here you will have robust educational experiences in inpatient, psychiatric emergency center, consultation, community, school-based, outpatient, forensics, and telehealth settings in which you will be able to practice evidence-based and patient-centered driven care, along with opportunities in psychotherapy and research. Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN) and Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) are two new collaborative programs funded through Texas Senate Bill 11. The fellow will also be able to rotate through these dynamic programs and learn how to interact closely with the medical & education community, which serves children and their families.

Our JPS Child and Adolescent Psychiatry division consists of faculty that have trained in different parts of the country or stayed locally, at academic & community programs, some with 20+ years of experience, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams, all of which will provide for a diverse training experience. This is a growing department that is close-knit and works closely within our division and psychiatry department, health system, and community. Additionally, our fellowship has a close relationship with the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
