Medical Assistants Put Patients, Physicians in Position to Succeed

Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) are often among the first faces patients see when they come to JPS Health Network. Still, much of the work they do to help people get the best care possible happens behind the scenes.

“On the surface, they do a lot of clerical work,” said Devon Armstrong, Director of Outpatient Care Management at JPS. “But there’s a lot more people might not see. They’re the backbone of our department because they do the things that have to be done to let us do our jobs to the best of our ability.”

Now is the Time to Become a Nurse at JPS

A short-term need to rise to the challenge of COVID-19 and a long-term demand to meet the growing needs of the community have created unique opportunities at JPS Health Network for nurses interested in a rewarding and fulfilling career.

“If you’ve ever wanted to be a nurse at JPS, there has never been a better time,” said Trish Rutigliano, Senior Talent Consultant who specializes in recruiting nurses. “We have opportunities across the health network, both seasonal and long-term team members. There is a fit for just about any type of nurse you can imagine.”

The 10 Years of Level I Trauma at JPS

A decade after JPS Health Network leaders reached their goal of becoming the first and still only Level I Trauma Center, they continue to look for ways to get even better at providing top-notch care.

Earning that designation was years in the making, according to surgeon Dr. Raj Gandhi. But the work didn’t end when doctors, nurses, administrators and countless other JPS team members were able to reach that goal.

Making Time for Mental Wellness

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a tough time for people of all walks of life.

It’s not just our physical health that has been impacted. Fear of illness, worries about taking care of our families, loss of income, and a host of other issues that weren’t even on our radar a year ago have all become factors that have complicated our lives and ratcheted up our stress levels. What can we do to manage these feelings? JPS Health Network has a team of doctors, nurses and other Behavioral Health caregivers at the ready to help whenever they’re needed, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
