
SHINE U is is a four-week, paid summer internship for college students pursuing healthcare-related degrees. This program is designed for students who are preparing for advanced training and careers in healthcare and who are ready to deepen their clinical exposure, strengthen their skills, and clarify their professional pathway.
Program Overview
- Four-week paid internship for undergraduate college students who are pursuing a healthcare-related degree.
- Hands-on experience aligned with students’ academic focus, in both clinical and non-clinical operational settings
- Capstone project designed to bridge academic learning with real healthcare challenges
Program Details
Who Can Apply
- Age 18 or older as of June 1, 2026
- Currently enrolled in and attending an accredited college or university
- Rising sophomore through rising senior with an academic focus in healthcare-related fields such as nursing, medicine, healthcare administration, public health, business analytics, information systems, or related areas
- Graduate of a Tarrant County high school or currently enrolled in a Tarrant County college or university
- Must be available for the full duration of the internship (June 1-26 or July 6-30).
Program Structure
- Participants: 6 college students, split into two cohorts (3 each)
- Cohort 1: June 1–26, 2026
- Cohort 2: July 6–30, 2026
- Schedule: Approximately 35–40 hours per week,Monday through Friday
- Attendance: Full participation required all four weeks of the internship
What Students Will Experience
During the SHINE program, students will:
- Engage in clinical and non-clinical experiences aligned with academic interests
- Work closely with healthcare leaders and subject matter experts
- Develop leadership, accountability, and workplace readiness skills
- Complete a capstone project aligned with their healthcare interests
- Gain insight into healthcare systems, operations, and interpersonal collaboration
- Strengthen readiness for employment, graduate school, or professional programs.
During the application window, students applying for the SHINE U program will submit:
- Basic contact information
- Two references
- A one-minute video explaining their interest in SHINE and what they hope to gain
Selected students will complete a supplemental employment application and undergo standard pre-employment screening, including a background check and occupational health requirements
