Inspiring the Next Generation

Twin residents Kyle and Kendall Lewis, MD, matched in the JPS Health Network Family Medicine Residency program. Though wearing matching clothes as kids wasn't their preference, they said this was an opportunity worth matching for.

The doctors grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended Louisiana State University. Going into medicine wasn't their initial goal, but they found a passion that fostered their commitment to helping others and mentoring young athletes.

Improving Access to Care

In August 2020, the JPS Health Network Center for Epidemiology & Healthcare Delivery Research, Foundation, and Community Health applied for funding from the American Cancer Society (ACS) and National Football League's Crucial Catch Initiative. The aim was to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare services with regard to cancer screenings for patients.

The Unexpected Miracle

"If it weren't for COVID-19, I probably wouldn't have been here today," said Bridgett Lyman. "I don't want to say it, but it's true." These are the words no one would ever expect to hear. Navigating life during the pandemic was a tough time, and it significantly impacted many individuals. For Bridgett Lyman, it was a time that saved her life.
