Improving Access to Care
In August 2020, the JPS Health Network Center for Epidemiology & Healthcare Delivery Research, Foundation, and Community Health applied for funding from the American Cancer Society (ACS) and National Football League's Crucial Catch Initiative. The aim was to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare services with regard to cancer screenings for patients.
Serving the JPS Community, Together
Dr. Prasanna Kumar, Family Medicine Physician, had been a surgeon for 20 years before joining the JPS Health Network family, receiving most of his medical training in England. Although he had many years of practice, he had to restart his career because training outside of the U.S. wasn't accepted, but it wasn't a difficult decision because he had a passion for patient care.
Falling in Love with Patient Care
JPS Health Network Nursing team hosted a Nurse Award Luncheon on Wednesday, May 17, to celebrate nurses' commitment to providing excellent care to patients. Nurses play a vital role in a patient's healthcare journey, and these awards express appreciation for their dedication to providing exemplary care.
The Unexpected Miracle
"If it weren't for COVID-19, I probably wouldn't have been here today," said Bridgett Lyman. "I don't want to say it, but it's true." These are the words no one would ever expect to hear. Navigating life during the pandemic was a tough time, and it significantly impacted many individuals. For Bridgett Lyman, it was a time that saved her life.
75 Years of Service
For Brianna Green, BSN, RN, PCCN, JPS Health Network is home. She was born at JPS, her grandmother worked here for 35 years, her mother has been a JPS employee for 27 years, and the many people Green has met over her 13 years at JPS have become more than coworkers; they've become family.
Having the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of her grandmother and mother and serve the JPS community for many years has been comforting to her. Together, the family has served 75 years, and she is more than happy to carry on the legacy of serving the JPS population.
