Research
JPS Health Network has a long tradition of residency training and resident participation in scholarly activities. The JPS Behavioral Health Service Research Division is currently participating as a site in seven national and international multi-site clinical research trials and has numerous secondary data analyses projects as well. Interested residents are offered the opportunity to receive certification in clinical trial research through a program sponsored by Duke University and individual mentorship with both JPS faculty and an internationally-known research consultant to learn study design, basic analytic approaches and research ethics. Both the Behavioral Health Research Division and the hospital-wide Office of Clinical Research are available to assist with IRB applications, patient enrollment, and data collection and data input.
Residents are required to engage in scholarly activity and provide a research product of presentation-ready or publishable quality as a prerequisite to graduation. This may take the form of conference presentations, case reports, original peer reviewed journal articles or another scholarly activity as approved by the Program Director and Associate Program Director.

- Monthly Journal Club
- Grand Rounds Lecture Series
- Research Didactics presentations
- Participation in local, regional and national meetings
- Projects/Presentations/Publications/Awards
